Here Comes The Bride: Bridal Shoes By FG
Dear bride-to-be,
Congratulations!!! Now that you’ve said ‘yes’ to the one person, we’re pretty sure it’s already time to start shopping. You’re probably running helter-skelter, from mall to boutique to website in search of the one outfit.
But there’s one thing you don’t have to think about at all: what shoes you should wear.
With the new Fizzy Goblet Bridal Box, you’ve got nothing to worry. This beautiful new floral box comes with a gold-foiled message "Here comes the Bride!" and has a muted pair of gold-and-silver juttis in it that will go with all your Indian outfits. With beautiful shoes like these, you need something special to keep it in. The box also has a white crotchet bag for your shoes with a cute message on it: ‘Miss To Mrs, Wishes & Kisses’.
In case you are gifting the box to a bride in your life, there is even a handwritten note card that can be personalised.
We are so excited for your special day, and to be a part of it. Have a happily ever after : )
Love,
Team Fizzy Goblet
The box is priced at INR 3900 and you can buy it here.
It’s that time of that month again where we say: “You’ve got (something extra in your) mail!” If you’ve called home a pair or two of Fizzy Goblet shoes, we have popped in a little surprise gift for you—luggage tags in the shape of a mini jutti!
We’ve all been there, craning our necks near the baggage belt, looking at one generic black suitcase after another in hope to find ours. Make the struggle easier by hanging these easy-to-spot luggage tags around your bag.
Made from leftover leatherette from our workshop, the tags are in three colours: wine, tan and black. Each mini jutti is about the size of your palm and has a little message inscribed—Seeker of Everyday Magic, and have loops made of laces.
As part of our zero waste initiative, we like sending small things to you every now and then. In July, we made scrunchies made of leftover Fizzy G prints, and in August, we’d turned our laces into rakhis and bracelets. Through September, we’ll be sending you these leatherette luggage tags with each order placed. You can personalise these tags with your contact deets by using a marker on the back.
All you have to do is pick out a Fizzy G shoe, hang your luggage tag around your bag, and off you go on an adventure!
Tell us where you are travelling next :)

What does Laksheeta Govil, the founder & Creative Head of Fizzy Goblet, do in a span of 24 hours?
a. Manage two offices
b. Make a 100 phone calls
c. Throw a pizza party
Only time (and reading the article below) will tell!
We take a look into her everyday routine (in her words), hoping we find inspiration or at least some time-management skills! Here we go.
The alarm sounds at 7.am (then 7.30 and then 8am) and I wake up. The first thing I do is make my bed, because it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something right in the morning. I then gulp down a tumbler of cold coffee (half milk-half water-no sugar) to get the day started. I also like to like to listen to podcasts and jot down pointers I like so that I can refer to them later.
I usually find this the best time to tune out and work because it’s so silent and the phone calls haven’t begun ringing yet. This is when I do about 30 minutes of yoga, or some kind of stretches. And for breakfast, I’ll either have eggs, oats, uttapam or avo toast, if I can convince someone to make it. ;)
The Work Day Begins
I’m working out of different offices in Noida, Bombay and Singapore. If I’m getting into the India offices, I’ll be in by 9.30-10am, and check my emails and take a round of the office first. I keep mornings for things that require more concentration (or so I try), such as designing, accounts, or the toughest things on my list that should be tackled with first.
Lunch is usually a grab-and-go. When I’m working in Singapore, I usually get one of those salad bowls, pita pockets or meals from Soup Spoon. In India, besides home food, If I’m feeling indulgent, or we are celebrating a win, or if it’s been a few long work days weeks, we have a pizza party where we stress-eat our feelings and get recharged for the rest of the week.
Afternoons are usually for planning something next: whether a new gifting idea or finalising a shoe design. Sometimes, that’s when I have a meeting with my teams, like on Monday, I sit with the Marketing & Instagram team to finalise the gameplay for the upcoming week.
I do, however, usually prefer meetings over the phone than meetings in person. (Who wants another meeting that could have been an email, yes?)
After work, I just really want some good food, so more often than not, I’ll try and get dinner outside. Otherwise, I like to just spend some time with the family, and maybe convince everyone to play the strategy board game Catan (it is my latest obsession—you have to try it).
I find nighttime the best time for me to design. I usually keep a pad of tracing paper and pencil on my bedside and free flow with ideas or do some random freehand doodling, especially if I'm in the middle of a phone conversation.
Then I keep my phone in the next room (or at least an arm’s distance away) with many more alarms for the next morning. Lastly, I tear off the previous day’s list, I make a new to-do list, and plan my day ahead. It doesn’t always go to plan, but it’s always exciting and I love it.
As told to Bhavika Govil. Read more of her work here .

The coming month has got us excited for many reasons, the good weather only playing a small part of it. We have a lot lined up in the Fizzy G studio, but the most exciting thing of all is our new surprise.
In July, we made our Fizzy scrunchies that we gave away to you with each order. It was our first step in our zero waste initiative, as we used leftover fabrics from earlier designs (a polka-dotted scrap here, a stripe one there) and whipped it up into cutesy scrunchies.
With a new month comes a new surprise, and this time around, we’re giving away rakhis! With every order you place with us, there will be a fun (free) rakhi slipped into your pink Fizzy G box. What's special about it? Look carefully—these are shoe strings upcycled, twisted and twirled into a new design. From sole to wrist, these brown cords have then been embellished with beads, and colourful threads. Plus, for this project, we teamed up with the wonderful NGO, Himalayan Blooms, that works with women from less privileged backgrounds.
The rakhi-bands are wrapped around a beige circle with the words To infinity and beyond is our bond! Not into rakhi much (or at all)? All the better—take it for yourself! These bands can simply be used as a bracelet.
Can't get enough? In case you want to purchase the rakhis separately, you can also buy them online at the LBB Specials. Buy an individual rakhi here or a pack of five here. The proceeds from the sale of rakhis on LBB Specials go to Himalayan Blooms. Otherwise, you get a free rakhi with every order you place on the Fizzy Goblet site.
We hope you enjoy your gift (and your shoes). Happy August to you. :)
P.S. Reminder for the calendar: Rakhi is on August 26 this year!

What's in a Name?
Deciding the name of our brand was one of the most exciting and terrifying decisions we had to make at the beginning. The name would not only introduce us to everyone but would also give people a hint of what our products were like. Choose a bad name, and we could be stuck with it—permanently. Something boring such as Indian Handicrafts would not catch the eye, a name such as generic as The Jutti Co. would give everything away, and complicated one would just leave people confused. The key was to strike a balance.
So we made lists. We called up our friends, and neighbour’s friends, consulted the neighbourhood cat (a little pricey, but a good cat once you get to know her), and scoured through our own lists. Eventually, with the help of a friend’s best friend, the name Fizzy Goblet dawned upon us. It was perfect - the ‘goblet’ was a quiet reference to our love for Harry Potter, the ‘fizzy’ added the fun, bubbling nature of what we wanted the brand to be. Today, we call our brand Fizzy Goblet and fondly call our shoes, Fizzy G’s. You’re welcome to call them so too.
BTW : If you look closely, you'll notice that even our logo is a symbol of a goblet formed by the letter F perched upon the letter G.

How To: Take Care of Your Fizzy G's
Hello, proud owner of Fizzy G’s. We’re delighted to meet you! Check your pink FG trunk and you’ll find a dust bag inside it and a small note from us. The best way to take care of your shoes is to keep them safe and warm in your brown dust bag after every use.
YET
If you have jumped in a puddle too many, trudged through a mall or ran a food fest too many, worry not. It’s super easy to clean your shoes. Here’s how you can clean your Fizzy G’s:
What You Need : A Small towel, hand wash, clothes washing powder, a soft toothbrush, your Fizzy G's
Steps to Take (Pun Intended):
For printed juttis with no embellishments such as this one, grab a soft hand towel and any hand wash. Squeeze a little hand wash onto said towel and gently rub the shoes until the dirt begins to wear off. Let your shoes dry overnight and they’ll soon be as shiny as new.
b. For White Shoes:
This one’s our mommy’s favourite hack, so listen up. Buy some gentle washing powder (we recommend Eezee which you’ll find in any supermarket). Rub a little washing powder on the shoe, take a soft toothbrush and wet it with water. Now, very gently and patiently scrub the shoe with the toothbrush until clean. Let it dry.

c. For Embellished Shoes:
While our artisans sew on the embroidery or embellishments with love and care, an accidental bump may cause them to loosen or fall down. We have provided you with extra embellishments in a tiny plastic bag with your shoe. Just ask your local tailor to patch it on again. :)

Voila! Your shoes are now sparkly clean and ready to hit the runway/road.

A well-established rule among the Fizzy G team: wherever you go, look for pizza. As strict followers of the guidebook, we took this seriously on an expedition in New York last summer. Sniffing our way to the nearest cheese-burst pizza, we let our fizzy clad feet find these wonders. Buono appetito.
If you’re looking for…
A #NoRegrets Meal
Go to: Joe’s Pizza
Is anything as satisfying as a big slice of cheesy pizza doubled up with a fizzy tumbler of coke? This Manhattan pizzeria around the corner makes the perfectly indulgent New York slice pizza and makes no apologies about it. They have a simple menu offering two options: plain cheese pizza or a Sicilian square, but we definitely didn’t need anything more.
Where You Can Just Go With The Dough
Go to: Roberta’s Pizza
The people of New York call it a new age, hipster joint but we are solely concerned about the food. The pizza comes with a lovely base, with fluffy edges that are just the right amount of burned. Go there if you like to go with the dough, and try the Bee Sting pizza with a little honey (yes!) and chilly on it.
Cheese Heaven
Go to: Bleecker Street Pizza
If you’re visiting West Side, do hop over to Bleecker Street Pizza. They have super fresh ingredients, aren’t skimpy with their olive oil and most importantly, have delicious cheese on each pizza (parmigiano-reggiano). They even have a pizza called the White pie with just ricotta and mozzarella cheese and no sauce. Yum!
Pepperoni Pizza
Go To: Prince St. Pizza
Photo Source: The Food Lab/ Facebook
A fan of the mighty pepperoni pizza? Prince St. Pizza whips up a square version of the pepperoni pizza for you (more to eat, we can’t complain). This four edged-slice is cheesy, pepperoni deep fried and some may even say life-altering.
BTW : Let us know which Italian city you want us to discover through our version of More Spaghetti, Less Upsetti!
Hustle your way through work with our take on the classic white sneaker.

By popular vote, we combined the two and made The Panda Sneakers
We’ve hand-embroidered this adorable black-and-white bear on a white leather material, added a special black lace and given the classic sneaker a major upgrade. This pair is super comfy, and you can hustle through the most bristly bamboo-shoots (aka tough work meetings) with no trouble at all.
Goes well with : rolled up jeans, your old plaid school skirt, more black and white

The loafer is one of the shoe styles we introduced last year, and while you guys have loved it, there have been a few doubts about wearing them: Does one lounge about at home with it? Are these to be flaunted on the dance floor? Is it meant for broader feet, or should narrow ones stick to them?
We're answering them all here.
Where to wear them
Around the block : You can take your Fizzy loafer for a walk in the neighbourhood, on a sprint with your dog or on an ice-cream drive.
Example: The Payal Singhal x FG loafer
To the mall : We all know that a shopping session at the mall is nothing short of a marathon, and you have to be prepped for it. The loafers, which are super comfortable, are made just for that.
Example: Poppy Monk Loafer
For an interview : This one will have you thinking on your feet, no kidding.
Example: The Safari Monk Loafer
On a holiday : Oh, but this one is the best alternative of them all.
Example: Fly Birdie Loafer

How to wear them
With your best jeans

A basic black skirt

A maxi dress

Who should wear them
The FG loafers are a lot like our juttis, but a wider fit from the front. If you have broad feet, a bigger size or just generally like to wear roomier shoes, these will suit you well! Smaller feet people, don’t you worry, these will fit you like a glove too as they take the shape of the feet.
Last October was a season of good weather, croissants and great shoes - wink wink. We tossed in our berets, packed up our trunks, and took off to explore France - starting right from the lovely Paris, down to a quaint nearby town, Aix-en-Provence (pronounced ox-on-praw-von), a vineyard and even a beautiful lake in the gorgeous Chassis. All those in favour of knowing where to go in France beyond the Eiffel Tower, say oui!

Fellow virtual attendees of #sonamkishaadi, you know what we mean when we say that we have never been as invested in a wedding as we were the week of their wedding.
We loved everything about the celebrations, and are so kicked to have been part of Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's wedding. On the formal Mehendi function on day 2, the bride gave away Fizzy Goblet juttis to her guests as part of wedding favours.

These special-edition Fizzy G's were designed keeping in mind the theme of the event, ivory and gold. These juttis were wrapped up in beautiful crotchet bags, and kept in baskets for guests to pick up.
These juttis have been named Aisha as a tribute to one of our fave Sonam Kapoor movies (no points for guessing!), and you can now get your pair here.

Inside tips & tricks from our Instagram team on how to up your game.
", "articleBody": "Have a thing for Instagram? So do we! If you’ve been following us, you may have noticed that we love hanging out on Instagram stories.
Do you want to up your own Story game too? Whether you’re a fashion blogger, love capturing your pet cat's every movement or just like clicking pictures of food, we’re letting you in on our fave tips and tricks on making interesting Insta stories. Follow along:
Have fun with fonts:
Instagram has so many fun fonts for your words. Pick a font you like to establish the mood you’re in: typewriter when you feel poetic, strong when you want to make a big, bold announcement or even neon for a little whimsy. Remember, you can always use a combination of these, and play with colours to keep it lookin’ fresh.
Some of the ways we like to switch it up are:
a. Rainbow: Check out how to use a fun rainbow text & make your story pop here
b. Colour Blocking: You can add a colourful background for each word that you write, and even change the colour of the fonts
c. Add a Solid Background: Use the colour picker tool to set the background to a solid colour and just some text. This can be great for the opening and closing slides of your story.
Mix it up:
While pictures are the basis, make the most of all of Instagram’s features. A little video or movement makes your story so much more interesting. You can try using the stop-motion filter (keep a steady hand), rewind (try clicking a friend walking & see her go backwards) or just a good old Hands-free video.
Let’s talk:
It’s awesome to get your friends/ audience involved in your Insta story, so try and make it interactive. You can use the polls feature on insta story, ask a question at the end or make a guessing game out of it. For example: if you’ve visited a beautiful lesser-known place in your city, you can ask everyone to guess where it may be.
Less is more:
If you’re used to putting about 10-12 updates per Insta story, you may notice that by the end of it, the number of people decreases while watching your story. That may be because it’s too long. Keep it short and simple, and you’ll hold people’s interest longer!
Enjoy the present:
Whether it’s an art show you’re at or a new place you’re exploring, making a good Insta story takes a little time. Just click the pictures and videos you want, keep the phone away and enjoy the moment. You can make your Insta story when you’re back home. Pick out your favourite of the lot & get building. :)
BTW: You can also add stickers, tag your location (or not, to keep up the mystery) and keep exploring features. Have fun!
This style of printing is not a new kid on the block, but is as fascinating as ever to see the process unfold in front of you.
Stamp:
To make the ‘ink’ for block-printing, a combination of lime, gum, water and very smooth mud (specifically chosen from river beds around Akola, Rajasthan) are dunked together in a large container. The next day, this 60kg mixture is made into a paste after three rounds of stomping, mixing and kneading with one’s feet. This is called the daboo or mud-resist style of block printing.
It’s kind of like the process of grape-stomping to make wine, but admittedly less glamorous.
Print:
A nine-yard fabric is pinned to a long table, over a layer of sawdust to ensure that it stays in place and absorbs the excess ink (mud). The artist then dips the wooden block in the stamp pad and prints it repeatedly and carefully all over the cloth.
The mud is used to keep the pattern in place (be it a flower or a parrot) while it goes through the next step: dyeing.
Dye:
Depending on the intended background colour (blue in this case), the cloth is dipped and soaked in 9-feet-deep indigo wells with wooden sticks. The longer the cloth is soaked, the deeper the blue will be. The mud-blocked print stays on through the process. In the case of other colours, Aavaran uses Manjusha for a brown colour, haldi for a yellow, and more natural dyes.
Rinse & Repeat:
The colour of the cloth dries under the sun, and is then taken through the printing and dyeing steps again. Finally, when different blocks are used to complete the pattern on the cloth, dyed again and dried one last time, the cloth is soaked in water overnight.
The mud, which was holding the pattern in place, is then removed from the cloth to reveal the white left over print.
This cloth is then bundled up, taken to the tailor’s room where your next favourite dress, kurta or blouse piece is stitched into action.

Heart Art? Check Out the Most Colourful Streets in India
Been there, seen it all and now wondering where next to take your feet (and Fizzy G's)? We've drawn up a list of the most colourful streets we've found in India, which you can hit up when you're bored, in need of a dose of culture or just an interesting background for your next photoshoot!
Old City, Udaipur
Udaipur, India’s City of Lakes has some of the bluest waters, most intricate palaces, and stunning sunsets. We found, however, that the real charm lies in the beautiful streets in the Old City. Hire a bike, or walk around the narrow lanes here, and you’ll find that each home is beautifully handprinted with motifs and animals - most commonly elephants. These colourful walls, complex artworks and might we add, great light, make for great Instagram pictures.
BTW : Although they call it a romantic city, going with your sister/ BFF is as much fun, especially for a fun photoshoot. Check out how we spent time in Udaipur here.
Lodhi Art District, New Delhi
Photo Source: Akshat Nauriyal/ St+art India
Central Delhi’s crumbling walls and pale minarets got a gleaming makeover when lots of street artists, illustrators and designers dipped their brushes in paint and painted the town colourful. The Lodhi Art District is a project entirely undertaken by not-for-profit organisation, St+art Foundation.
Whether you simply perch yourself on a cafe in Meherchand market or actively go for a stroll in the district, picture of birds, bright patterns and more in the form of thirty murals will surround you. Whip out your phone and snap, snap!
Fountainhas, Goa
We say 'Goa' and you think 'beaches'? You know there’s so much more to the city than that! Take a cultural twist and visit the Latin Quarter. This area in Old Goa invites more than a first glance. Go here for a walk around the old worldly bars (check out Joseph Bar for great draft beer), crimson doorways and Portuguese architecture and of course, the perfect photoshoot.
Aye, man.
Bandra, Mumbai
Bandra, home to fairy lights, beautiful Christmases and cobbled lanes is also one of our favourite places for an unexpected capture.
Whether its Waroda Road and its bright Jude Bakery or Nagrana Lane with popping graffiti, the walls of Chapel Road splashed with Bollywood (courtesy Bollywood Art Project), or the beautifully painted elephants you’ll bump into on Hill Road, you’ll always find beauty just around the corner.
Keep your eyes and Instagram open for the money shot!
The French Quarter, Pondicherry
Add a natural Amaro filter to your photographs with the bright yellow walls in Pondicherry’s French Quarter. The ochre hues, french villas and colonial-looking doors are the perfect photo OPs, and the cycle-friendly streets and boutique hotels are just the (pondi)cherry on the cake. :)
Take your Fizzy G's out exploring too! Pick a pair here.

What’s better than a murder mystery? A murder mystery within a murder mystery, and it comes in Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz. Keep your phone away and get lost between the pages of this killer thriller, pun un-intended.
Listen to:
1. Booty Swing - Parov Stelar (gets those feet tapping)
2. Ghost - Parekh and Singh (with the video kept in sight for Indie Wes Anderson vibes)
3. Udd Gaye - Ritviz (if you've somehow missed it last year, listen when you need a shot of positivity or just to wake up in the morning)
You can listen to these here.
We’re currently obsessed with the Art of Design on Netflix - it shows you everything from the journeys of an illustrator to a graphic designer to a photographer and is one of the most inspiring shows we’ve seen in a while.

P.S. For a fun take on the stand-up comedy scene in 1970's New York (and for major wardrobe inspiration), watch The Marvelous Mrs Maisel on Amazon Prime.
If you too have wondered how best to style florals, and get away with it without offending Meryl Streep - read on.

What You Need: whites, stripes and floral clothes, access to your sister’s/friend’s wardrobe (permission not essential, but recommended), a pair of floral Fizzy G’s and a love for summer.
Steps to take (Pun intended) :
1. Match your floral shoes with white
Off-set your brightly-coloured floral shoes with a white dress or top. It’ll keep you feeling cool, and be perfect for a day you wish to be easy on the eyes.

2. Florals on florals
It’s not a blasphemy if done right - match your floral shoes with a floral outfit. Just make sure that if the shoes have a small print, then the florals on your outfit can be a bigger print (and vice versa).
And if you want to go all out…

3. Match completely
Buy matching floral outfits and shoes, and don’t care a fig what the world says. Add a leather jacket to complete the look (and balance it out).
BTW: You can match our Fizzy G x Payal Singhal Fiori Felici collection with Payal Singhal’s clothes here.

4. Stripe it up!
One of our favourite pattern combinations - stripes and florals are pretty much a match made in heaven. Wear a striped pair of trousers, long skirt or kurta and put on your floral shoes.

Do you love florals too? You may want to add some of our floral Fizzy G’s to cart.
That’s all.
Hello, there! Before we dive into the thick of things, let’s mutually acknowledge that Goa is the best vacation spot. The palm trees-shadowed lanes and beach vibes never get old. When in Goa, we balance things out by keeping one foot in the water and the one in our favourite bar. Here is a list of our favourite watering holes in the city.
May your wine glass always overfloweth and your feet take you good places. :)
Beer for Breakfast:
Grab a seat at Michele’s Garden Cafe on Anjuna Beach, which opens its pretty French doors at 8 in the morn’. Pick anything from the beers to Margarita Desmonji to have along with your French toast. You’re on vacation and we don’t judge.

Lunch-Time Mimosas:
Note this down : Pousada by the Beach. We’re not talking gibberish, but pointing you towards one of the most understated restaurants in Goa. This shack done right on Calangute Beach is home to delicious Goan food, friendly in-house woofers and incredible hosts. It shuts at seven, so get there for a lunch with drinks and stay on for the view.

Do also make your way to The Lazy Goose at Nerul, and remember, there’s no such thing as too many pitchers of Sangria here. :)
Sunset Cocktails:
It goes without saying, but we still say: Thalassa on Anjuna Beach undoubtedly guarantees wonderful access to the sunset and some fabulous cocktails. If you want to tread an unfamiliar path, though, check out Calamari shack on Calangute beach.

(Another chill place with a good view is the Southern Deck bar.)
A Dinner Date:
Don your swishy skirt and take your date to Tierra Y Mar. South American food, tapas, a delicious Orange-Cinammon Martini (or a more local version of the Whiskey drink - Feni Sour). Clink!

Night Out With the Girls:
If you’re one for dancing as fast as you’re guzzling, you’ve got to visit Tavern in Panaji on Saturday night, as well as Martins in Margao.
Would rather sit, drink beer not-so-quietly and maybe belt out an off-tune key? Habanero and The Big Tap are a couple of good microbreweries in town, if you get our draft. ;)
